Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about Glazeright Ltd.
Yes — all of our surveys and quotes are completely free and carry no obligation. We visit your property, take measurements, and provide a written quote at no charge. There is no pressure to proceed.
We cover Hampshire and the surrounding counties, including Southampton, Winchester, Portsmouth, Fareham, Eastleigh, Havant, Gosport, Romsey, and many more towns across the region. If you are unsure whether we cover your area, please get in touch and we will confirm.
uPVC is the most widely installed window frame material — it is low maintenance, thermally efficient, and available in a wide range of styles and colours including woodgrain foil finishes. Aluminium offers slimmer sightlines and a more contemporary aesthetic, with excellent strength-to-weight ratio and a powder-coated finish available in virtually any colour. Both options are double glazed as standard and include modern locking hardware. We can advise on the best choice for your property and budget during a free survey.
Replacement windows and doors are normally covered by permitted development and do not require planning permission, provided they are similar in appearance to what they replace. If your property is in a conservation area or is a listed building, additional rules may apply. We will advise on any planning considerations specific to your property during your free survey.
Most conservatories fall within permitted development and do not require planning permission, subject to size and siting restrictions. The conservatory must not cover more than half the area of land around the original house, must not be forward of the principal elevation, and must meet certain height limits. Properties in conservation areas or those that are listed may have different rules. We discuss permitted development eligibility as part of every free survey.
We install conservatories and orangeries in uPVC and aluminium frames, with a range of roof options including double-glazed glass roofs, solar-control glazing, and solid tiled roofing systems. The choice of frame material and roof type affects both the appearance and year-round comfort of the space, and we talk through the options in detail during your free survey.
Timescales vary depending on the product and the size of the project. Please contact us to discuss your specific requirements and we will give you a realistic indication of the programme for your installation.
In many cases, yes. If your sealed units have blown (internal condensation between the panes), we can replace the glass unit within the existing frame at a fraction of the cost of a full window replacement — provided the frame itself is still in sound condition. We also carry out hardware repairs, including handles, hinges, locking strips, and door cylinders. We will give you an honest assessment of whether repair or replacement is the right answer for your windows and doors.
